MATERIALS:
For doily about 9 in diameter. Six Cord mercerized crochet cotton, size 50,
1 small ball of white;
steel crochet hook No. 12.


Starting at center, Ch 10. SLst to form ring.
First Rnd: Ch 3, 23 Dc in ring. SLst to 3rd Ch of Ch 3.
2nd Rnd: Ch 5,
* Dc in next 3 Dc, Ch 3.
rep. from * around end with- 2 Dc, SLst in 3rd Ch of Ch 5.
3rd Rnd: SLst to sp, Ch 3, in same sp as Ch 3 make Dc, Ch 2 and 2 Dc,
* Ch 3, skip 3 Dc, in next sp make 2 Dc, Ch 2 and 2 Dc (shell made).
rep. from * around end with- Ch 3, SLst in 3rd Ch of Ch 3.
4th Rnd: Ch 2,
* in sp of shell make 2 Dc, Ch 2 and 2 Dc (shell over shell), Ch 4.
rep. from * around end with- Ch 4, SLst in first Dc.
5th Rnd: Ch 2,
* shell over shell, Ch 4, Sc over both chains of 2 previous rnds, Ch 4.

First Rnd; Ch 3, 21 Dc in ring. SLst to 3rd Ch of Ch 3.
2nd Rnd: Ch 4, (Dc in next Dc, Ch 1) twice,
(Dc in next 2 Dc, Ch 2) 8 times,
Dc in next 2 Dc.
3rd Rnd: (Ch 4, Sc in next sp) 3 times,
(Ch 4, in next sp make 2 Dc, Ch 2 and 2 Dc - shell) 8 times.
4th Rnd: (Ch 4, Sc in next lp) 4 times;
(Ch 4, shell over shell) 8 times.
5th Rnd: (Ch 4, Sc in next lp) 5 times;
Ch 4 (shell over shell, Ch 3, Sc over 2 chains of 2 previous rounds, Ch 3) 7 times,
shell over shell.
6th Rnd: (Ch 4, Sc in next lp) 6 times;
Ch 3 (Sc in center sp of shell, Ch 5, Tr in next Sc, Ch 5) 7 times;
Sc in center sp of next shell, Ch 3.
8th Rnd: (Sc in next lp, Ch 4) 6 times;
4 Dc in next sp, (8 Dc in next sp) 14 times;
4 Dc in next sp.
9th Rnd: (Ch 4, Sc in next lp) 6 times;

10th Rnd; (Ch 4, Sc in next lp) 6 times;
(Ch 4, in next sp make 2 Dc, Ch 2 and 2 Dc) 16 times.
11th Rnd: (Ch 4, Sc in next lp) 6 times;
(Ch 4, shell over shell) 16 times. Ch 4, turn.
12th Rnd:
* In the center sp of shell make
(Dc, Ch 4, SLst in Dc for picot) 3 times and Dc; Ch 4, Sc over 2 chains of previous rnds, Ch 4.
rep. from * around until last shell is completed. Tie off.

In making the 2nd motif.
Join the last 3 groups of picots on 2nd motif to first 3 groups of first motif by making
* (Dc in shell of 2nd motif, Ch 2, SLst to corresponding picot on first motif,
Ch 2, Dc in sp of shell of motif in work) 3 times;
Ch 4, Sc around both chains, Ch 4.
rep. from * two more times.

Connect rem. motifs in same way as 2nd motif was joined to first.
Sew motifs to doily leaving 10 Sc free where motifs are joined and 3 Sc between lps.
