Tips for regular inch increments
17.7 = 17.75 = 17 3/4 inches. 18,8 = 18.75 = 18 3/4 inches. 9.9 = 10 inches and so on.
Knowing this will make it easy to just round up or down as they are such small increments.

KNIT A TENSION SWATCH FIRST

STITCH OR KNITTING GAUGE, AND TENSION: depends on the pattern of stitches in the fabric and the tension of the

Gauge (Stocking Stitch over 4 in = 10 cm): 22,0 stitches by 29,0 rows.
Body knit by hand on 4.5 mm needles
Ribbing knit by hand on 3.5 mm needles

FINISHED DIMENSIONS: (ins)
Poncho Length: 6,3 Neck Width: 7,0 Border Depth: 0,5
Poncho Width: 15,1 Neck Band: 0,5 Fringe Length: 1,5

NOTE: Read ALL these instructions thoroughly BEFORE starting to knit.

NOTE: Instructions are given below for default top-down circular shaping. Number of stitches at Top = 77, Number of stitches at Bottom = 173, Number of Rounds = 42 and Direction of knit = Top-Down
(increase). The calculations below use 6 Shaping Rounds and Funnel (not Even) Spacing between Rounds.

PONCHO:
1. Cast on 77 stitches on size 4.5 needles. Join to form a circle, taking care not to twist the stitches.
Round 1: knit even on 77 stitches.
Round 2: Inc 16 stitches evenly across the row to total 93 stitches.
(* [K5, M1] 4 times, then [K4, M1] once * 3 times, then [K5, M1] once.)

Round 3: knit even on 93 stitches.
Round 4: Inc 16 stitches evenly across the row to total 109 stitches.
(* [K6, M1] 4 times, then [K5, M1] once * 3 times, then [K6, M1] once.)

Round 5: knit even on 109 stitches.
Round 6: Inc 16 stitches evenly across the row to total 125 stitches.

Rounds 27 to 42: knit even on 173 stitches.
2. Cast off.

CONSTRUCT THE PONCHO:
1. Sew, graft or crochet the centre back seam.

NECK BAND:
1. Using size 3.5 needles knit a border 0,5 ins deep (approx. 4 rows) around the neckline of the poncho. This is
best knitted by picking up stitches around the neck and knitting a few rows. Ribbing will help pull in the neckline a
bit. If the neckline is very loose, consider knitting a folded band and inserting a draw string.

BORDER:
1. knit a border 0,5 ins deep around the bottom of the poncho. This should be crocheted or in a non-curling knit
stitch to provide stability to the bottom edge of the poncho.

FRINGE:
1. knit a 1,5 ins fringe around the bottom edge of the poncho. Various methods are given in the Help File / User Manual.

FINISHING:
1. Darn/weave/sew in all loose ends.
2. BLOCK. Really, it makes all the difference.

AMOUNT OF YARN REQUIRED TO MAKE GARMENT:
--- WARNING. THIS IS A ROUGH ESTIMATE ONLY. Measure a sample piece for a more accurate calculation.
Amount needed:
1,6 for poncho panels
0,1 for neckband
0,2 for border (plus 0,1 to 0,2 for fringe)
1,9 Ounces TOTAL (excluding fringe)
