repeat the increasings over the thumb gusset place 1 stitch after the first st. and 1 stitch before the last st. next row ;purl	after a while it will look like this measure the thumb gusset

slip right and left side of the mitten on stitch holders	continue with the thumb now

when your thumb is long enough split your work in 2, start right side cast off stitches given in patterns at the beginning and end of the thumb	continue knitting the left side of the thumb repeating right side of thumb

thumb is finished now	looks like this

inside of the mitten	now we are going to knit the mitten

slip left and right side stitches of the mitten, from stitch holder to knitting needles join the center stiches ( there where the thumb is ) knit them together to get a firm stitch continue knitting the mitten

knit further on mitten	no not long enough

now the mitten is long enough	split your work in 2 and knit both part apart

decrease left and right side of the mitten as given in patterns when finished, sew your mitten together and fold on mouse-teeth row, fasten on the inside of the mitten

	my left mitten is finished but it could have been my right mitten also no motif on top of the mitten just to show you, how to knit the thumb gusset

normally the top of the mitten has a nice motif and the bottom ( handpalm side ) has a very simple motif in that case it is important to knit a right and left hand mitten ( mirror the pattern)
