women's cardigan or sweater pattern image for ;  set-in shoulders, V neck, no ribbing Cardigan

set-in shoulders, V neck, no ribbing Cardigan

Patterns with no ribbing are great to knit fair-isle or Norwegian sweaters with a beautiful border.

For a V-neck: Slant the decreases as follows: right side; left slant (ssk), left side; right slant (k2 tog).

The choice of yarn affects the comfort of the cardigan, since it affects its warmth, weight and ability to "breathe" (air exchange).
Some yarns will also produce itching or even allergic reactions in some wearers. Cotton would be a good substitute in that case.

The yarn affects the bulk and drape of the knitted fabric, as well as the visibility of stitches. Complicated stitch patterns are best seen with a smooth, highly spun yarn and may be invisible with "furry" yarns such as mohair or novelty yarns.

Tips for my basic knitting patterns

1 First you knit your knitting swatch, if you want to knit in a fantasy pattern, knit your swatch in this stitch,
2 then determine your gauge, now you can choose a knitting pattern with the right gauge, this way it will always fit,
3 no need for special yarns or needles size, you decide which yarn you use and which gauge you use, so easy.

You can use any knitting stitch and knit with any knitting yarn you like, if it has a similar gauge.
Needle size is not so important, every knitter knits differently. When you are looking at a pattern,
it is the gauge or tension swatch that really matters. This is the base for all my basic knitting patterns.

You can’t cast off more than 1 stitch, at the end of the row, so if the pattern says; Dec 2 st at each end of every alternate row,
it means; Cast off 2 stitches, knit to end of row ( or round ), turn and cast off 2 stitches, knit to end of row.
