Free knitting patterns for Colinette hand dyed yarns

The individual knitting and crochet enthusiast wants to knit with the highest quality yarns, at attractive prices. Quality fibers can make a novice look good and an expert knitter look exceptional,
don't spoil your time and talent with unworthy yarns.

Most extraordinary yarns ( hand painted yarns ) comes in commercial skeins, they have different color ways, and you can knit with different types of yarn in the same color way.

Take care to buy hand painted yarns which have rhythmically colors throughout the whole skein, be careful not to buy amateurish or poorly painted dyed yarns. In other words, search for random regularly painted yarns.

Most color ways are available in many different yarns. Different fibers may take dyes a little differently. Remember if you are buying hand painted yarns on line, that colors may vary different on monitors.

Common different yarn types are;

  • Chenille:  always knit chenille with another yarn for strength.
  • Premium Fibers: include yarns spun with alpaca & silk ( for that added touch of luxury )
  • Cottons &  Rayon's: smooth & textured yarns, in pure cotton or rayon or blends.
  • Wool Classics: are smooth-spun yarns.
  • Wool Textures: include mohair, boucles, spiral-spun, or thick-thin yarns.

Hand dyed yarns can be hand washed.

Dissolve a washing liquid that has been specially formulated for delicate fabrics, in a bowl of lukewarm water. Immerse the garment and gently squeeze the fabric to release the dirt.
Do not rub. Rinse several times until the water becomes clear.
It is normal to loose a small amount of the dye color at this time.
Squeeze as much water as you can, but do not wring.
Place the knitting flat over a dry, clean towel and roll the two together.
Press to absorb as much water as possible with the towel.
Do not spin or tumble dry unless you want to felt the knitting!
Dry the knitting flat so that it does not stretch out of shape.
Within hand dyed yarns it is quite usual to find some color variation hanks of the same color way.
To achieve an even color effect over the garment, it is essential to work with more than one hank at a time.
Try blending the yarn by working in imaginary stripes of 2-6 rows using two different hanks of yarn throughout
the garment. Whether you are into cross stitch, needlepoint, crochet, or straight knitting there is an ever
growing collection of sumptuous designs for all levels of experience.
