total.
2. Change to size 5 needles and Knitting Chart. knit even until piece measures 43,2 cms (108 rows), excluding
hem.
3. Mark this row at both ends for armhole. Continue until armhole measures 21,6 cms (54 rows).
4. Shape neck. knit both sides at the same time. knit 29 stitches. Slip the next 34 stitches to a holder. With a second ball
of yarn, knit remaining 29 stitches. Dec 1 st at neck edge every row 3 times, until 26 stitches remain.
5. knit even until armhole measures 23,2 cms (58 rows). Cast off 26 shoulder stitches loosely.

FRONT: Cardigan right side knitted first.
1. Cast on 44 stitches on size 4 needles. knit in K1P1 ribbing for 7,0 cms. Inc 1 stitches evenly across the row to 45 stitches
total.
2. Change to size 5 needles and Knitting Chart. knit even until piece measures 43,2 cms (108 rows), excluding
hem.
3. Armhole. Mark this row at left end for armhole. Continue until armhole measures 15,2 cms (37 rows).
4. Shape neck. Wrong side of knit facing. knit 33 stitches. Slip last 12 stitches to holder. Next row. Dec 1 st at neck edge
(right end) every row 7 times, until 26 stitches remain.
5. knit even until armhole measures 23,2 cms (58 rows). Cast off 26 shoulder stitches loosely.
6. Left cardigan front. knit as for right side, reversing shapings.

SLEEVES:
1. Cast on 34 stitches on size 4 needles. knit in K1P1 ribbing for 6,0 cms. Inc 4 stitches evenly across the row to 38 stitches

2. Change to size 5 needles and Knitting Chart.

SHOULDER SEAMS:
1. Sew fronts to back along shoulder seams.

BALLET FRONT NECK SINGLE BAND COLLAR:
--- by hand on size 4 needles.
1. With right side of knit facing, pick up and knit 12 stitches from right front neck holder, 16 stitches from right front neck
edge, 2 stitches from right back neck edge, 34 stitches from back neck holder, 2 stitches from left back neck edge, , 16 stitches from
left front neck edge and 12 stitches from left front neck holder. Total 94 stitches.
2. knit 3,0 cms (10 rows) in K1P1 ribbing.
3. Cast off loosely.

BUTTON BAND:
1. Start with left front for girls/women, right front for boys/men. Using size 4 needles pick up and knit 139 stitches
(approximately 4 stitches for each 5 rows along cardigan front) between bottom of hem and top of collar band.
2. knit in 1x1 ribbing for 9 rows. Cast off loosely.
3. Mark positions for 8 buttons, the first one 1,3 cms above the band bottom, the last one 1,3 cms below the band
top. The rest should be evenly spaced between these two, approximately 9,4 cms apart.

BUTTONHOLE BAND:
1. knit buttonhole band as for button band, knitting buttonholes at the marked positions. Check your knitting
reference book for techniques.
2. Sew buttons at marked positions on the button band, being careful to align buttons with buttonholes.

FINISHING:
1. Sew sleeve top to armhole, easing to fit. Sew side and sleeve seams. Sew any remaining seams.
2. Darn/weave/sew in all loose ends.

2. knit in 1x1 ribbing for 9 rows. Cast off loosely.

BALLET FRONT NECK SINGLE BAND COLLAR:
--- by hand on size 4 needles.
1. With right side of knit facing, pick up and knit 14 stitches from right front neck holder, 19 stitches from right front neck
edge, 5 stitches from right back neck edge, 40 stitches from back neck holder, 5 stitches from left back neck edge, , 19 stitches from
left front neck edge and 14 stitches from left front neck holder. Total 116 stitches.
2. knit 3,0 cms (10 rows) in K1P1 ribbing.
3. Cast off loosely.

BUTTON BAND:
1. Start with left front for girls/women, right front for boys/men. Using size 4 needles pick up and knit 144 stitches
(approximately 4 stitches for each 5 rows along cardigan front) between bottom of hem and top of collar band.
2. knit in 1x1 ribbing for 9 rows. Cast off loosely.
3. Mark positions for 9 buttons, the first one 1,3 cms above the band bottom, the last one 1,3 cms below the band
top. The rest should be evenly spaced between these two, approximately 8,5 cms apart.

BUTTONHOLE BAND:
1. knit buttonhole band as for button band, knitting buttonholes at the marked positions. Check your knitting
reference book for techniques.
2. Sew buttons at marked positions on the button band, being careful to align buttons with buttonholes.

FINISHING:
1. Sew sleeve top to armhole, easing to fit. Sew side and sleeve seams. Sew any remaining seams.
2. Darn/weave/sew in all loose ends.
