knitting pattern for women's cardigan with gauge 16 x 19 in size 46 / British 40 for this size you can use the knitting chart if you want to knit another size, knit a tension swatch and find a basic pattern on my website and use the knitting chart with lace stitches and cables only to fill in the amount of stitches, knit on the left and right, moss stitch enjoy knitting

Cast on 92 st and divide the stitches given in chart the first and last 7 stitches are moss stitches, to get the proper amount of stitches for my size Moss stitch, row 1; knit 1 purl 1 , row 2; knit 1 purl 1 on every Knit st. knit a Purl st. and on every Purl st. knit a Knit st.

ribbing; purl 2 , knit 3 ( and knit special stitch over the 3 Knit stitches ) row 1. slip the 3rd stitch from the left over the 2 stitches, to the right knit 1, yarn over, knit 1 row 2. purl the 3 stitches knit 12 rows ( repeat 6 times row 1 and 2 ) learn to knit in symbols, so much easier !

when ribbing is finished start with 7 moss st. , 1 cable, 1 lace pattern, and so on , end with 1 cable and 7 moss st.
back neck side

pick up the cast of stitches at the left and right side, ( blue arrows ) and the st. on spare needle and knit another 14 rows with moss st. the back neck band is finished, take care to sew fronts and back together

Sleeve is grafted onto the body of the sweater, and knitted down to the hem. With size 7 needles pick up and knit approx. 80 stitches between the armhole markers. 2. Dec 1 st at each end of every 4th row. Until 44 stitches remain. 3. knit even until sleeve measures 38,0 cms (74 rows). 4. Hem. Change to size 6 needles. knit 14 rows in ribbing pattern. Cast off remaining stitches loosely. BUTTON BAND / COLLAR: IF YOU FOLLOW THE KNITTING CHART, YOU CAN SKIP ALL THESE INSTRUCTIONS 1. Cast on 7 stitches on size 6 needles. knit in K1P1 ribbing for 76,5 cms. 2. Check that this length is sufficient, when slightly stretched, to go up cardigan front, from bottom of front hem to centre of back of neck. Rib more if necessary. 3. Cast off. Sew button band to left front for girls/women, right front for boys/men. 4. Mark positions for 5 buttons, the first one 1,3 cms above the band bottom, the last one where the V-neck shaping begins. The rest should be evenly spaced between these two, approximately 9,0 cms apart. BUTTONHOLE BAND: IF YOU FOLLOW THE KNITTING CHART, YOU CAN SKIP ALL THESE INSTRUCTIONS 1. knit buttonhole band as for button band, knitting buttonholes at the marked positions as follows: With the right side of knit facing, rib 3 stitches, cast off next 1 st, rib to end. Next row. Rib 3 stitches, cast on 1 st over cast off st(s), rib to end. 2. Sew buttons at marked positions on the button band. 3. Sew buttonhole band to cardigan front, being careful to align buttonholes with buttons. FINISHING: 1. Sew side and sleeve seams. Sew any remaining seams. 2. Darn/weave/sew in all loose ends. 3.
