FORSELL - Double Knit Shamal Wool/Acrylic
A Double Knit machine washable Wool/Acrylic (20%/80%) yarn in 28 shades. Hand and Machine Knitting.
500g approx. in accordance with BS 984 - 1693 meters (1850 yds) -
1 cone will make a garment up to 102 cms (42") in single stocking stitch on a standard gauge knitting machine.

row 1. slip the 3rd stitch from the left over the 2 stitches, to the right

         knit 1, yarn over, knit 1

row 2. purl the 3 stitches

knit 12 rows ( repeat 6 times row 1 and 2 )       learn to knit in symbols, so much easier !

start with 7 moss st. , 1 cable, 1 lace pattern, and so on , end with 1 cable and 7 moss st.

and the st. on spare needle and knit another 14 rows with moss st.

the back neck band is finished, take care to sew fronts and back together

Gauge (Stocking Stitch over 4 in = 10 cm): 16,0 stitches by 19,0 rows.
Body knit by hand on 7 mm needles
Ribbing knit by hand on 6 mm needles

Note: Read ALL these instructions thoroughly BEFORE starting to knit. There may be sections where there are two shaping's to knit at the same time (such as necklines or waist shaping).
 
BACK:
 
IF YOU FOLLOW THE KNITTING CHART, YOU CAN SKIP ALL THESE INSTRUCTIONS
 
1. Cast on 92 stitches on size 6 needles. knit in K1P1 ribbing for 8,0 cms. Inc 5 stitches evenly across the row to 101 stitches total.
2. Change to size 7 needles and Stocking Stitch. knit even until piece measures 30,5 cms (58 rows), excluding hem.
3. Mark this row at both ends for armhole. Continue until armhole measures 23,2 cms (44 rows).
4. Shape neck. knit both sides at the same time. knit 37 stitches. With a second ball of yarn, cast off the next 27 stitches.
knit remaining 37 stitches. Dec 1 st at neck edge every row twice, until 35 stitches remain.
5. knit even until armhole measures 25,3 cms (48 rows). Place 35 shoulder stitches on holder.
 
FRONT: Cardigan right side knitted first.
 
IF YOU FOLLOW THE KNITTING CHART, YOU CAN SKIP ALL THESE INSTRUCTIONS
 
1. Cast on 47 stitches on size 6 needles. knit in K1P1 ribbing for 8,0 cms.
Inc 2 stitches evenly across the row to 49 stitches total.
2. Change to size 7 needles and Stocking Stitch. knit even until piece measures 30,5 cms (58 rows), excluding hem.
3. Armhole. Mark this row at left end for armhole. AT THE SAME TIME,
4. Shape neck. Dec 1 st at neck edge (right end) of next row, then every 3rd row 7 times, then every 4th row 6 times, until 35 stitches remain.
5. knit even until armhole measures 25,3 cms (48 rows). Place 35 shoulder stitches on holder.
6. Left cardigan front. knit as for right side, reversing shaping's.
 
SHOULDER SEAMS: close both shoulder seams.
 
SLEEVES:
1. Sleeve is grafted onto the body of the sweater, and knitted down to the hem.
With size 7 needles pick up and knit approx. 80 stitches between the armhole markers.
2. Dec 1 st at each end of every 4th row. Until 44 stitches remain.
3.  knit even until sleeve measures 38,0 cms (74 rows).
4. Hem. Change to size 6 needles. knit 14 rows in ribbing pattern. Cast off remaining stitches loosely.
 
BUTTON BAND / COLLAR:
 
IF YOU FOLLOW THE KNITTING CHART, YOU CAN SKIP ALL THESE INSTRUCTIONS
 
1. Cast on 7 stitches on size 6 needles. knit in K1P1 ribbing for 76,5 cms.
2. Check that this length is sufficient, when slightly stretched, to go up cardigan front, from bottom of front hem to centre of back of neck.
Rib more if necessary.
3. Cast off. Sew button band to left front for girls/women, right front for boys/men.
4. Mark positions for 5 buttons, the first one 1,3 cms above the band bottom, the last one where the V-neck shaping begins.
The rest should be evenly spaced between these two, approximately 9,0 cms apart.
 
BUTTONHOLE BAND:
 
IF YOU FOLLOW THE KNITTING CHART, YOU CAN SKIP ALL THESE INSTRUCTIONS
 
1. knit buttonhole band as for button band, knitting buttonholes at the marked positions as follows:
With the right side of knit facing, rib 3 stitches, cast off next 1 st, rib to end.
Next row. Rib 3 stitches, cast on 1 st over cast off st(s), rib to end.
2. Sew buttons at marked positions on the button band.
3. Sew buttonhole band to cardigan front, being careful to align buttonholes with buttons.
 
FINISHING:
1. Sew side and sleeve seams. Sew any remaining seams.
2. Darn/weave/sew in all loose ends.
3. Crochet picots along all sides.
