knitting drop stitches

I have 8 different drop stitches patterns here on this page.

Generally you have to knit a couple of plain rows on either side of the dropped stitch row
to add stability and structure to the finished piece.

dropstitchDROP STITCH 1:
Row 1: *Yarn Over,  k1* across
Row 2: *drop yo, k1* across

Repeat these two rows ending with row 2

dropstitchDROP STITCH 2:

End by knitting (garter stitch) 6 rows.
Bind off.

dropstitchDROP STITCH 3;
Rows 1 - 6 Knit
Row 7 Knit each stitch, wrapping yarn around needle three times instead of once.
Row 8 Knit each stitch, inserting right hand needle into first of the three wraps.
As you slide the stitch off of the left hand needle, allow the two extra wraps to
drop off of the needle. After every 10 or 12 stitches, gently tug on the fabric to
stretch out the dropped yarn, creating the long stitches.
Rows 9 - 10 Knit.
Rows 11 - 12 Repeat rows 7 and 8.

dropstitchDROP STITCH 4;
Rows 1-10: Knit
Row 11: Knit the first stitch. After you drop it from the left needle, yarn over (YO) twice,
then knit the 2nd stitch and after you drop it, Yarn Over twice. Repeat this process to
the end of the row. You do not need to yarn over after the last stitch.
Row 12: Knit the first stitch, drop the 2 Yarn Over's off the left needle. Knit the next stitch then
drop the 2 Yarn Over's off. Repeat this process to the end of the row.

Before you begin row 13, hold your knitting needle in front of you and gently pull down on
the completed rows.

Repeat rows 1-12
