With knitting in the round the stitches are knitted in the round as nothing but knit stitches.
This is a great way to knit Norwegian or Fair Isle patterns.
Norwegian or Fair Isle knitting, lends itself beautifully to circular knitting, a favorite way of knitting for many knitters,
much lesser mistakes are made !

knitting in the round has two main advantages:
no seams are needed to make up the garment after knitting,
and it allows the knitter to create a smooth and even stocking stitch.
Perfect for sweaters, cardigans and socks, they all can be knitted in the round.

Tips for my basic knitting patterns

circular knitting pattern with round yoke, for children, knitted top-down

1 First you knit your knitting swatch, if you want to knit in a cable stitch pattern, knit your swatch with 1 or more cables,
2 then determine your gauge, now you can choose a knitting pattern with the right gauge, this way it will always fit,
3 no need for special yarns or needles size, you decide which yarn you use and which gauge you use, so easy.

Tips for regular inch increments
17.7 = 17.75 = 17 3/4 inches. 18,8 = 18.75 = 18 3/4 inches. 9.9 = 10 inches and so on.
Knowing this will make it easy to just round up or down as they are such small increments.

FLAT FRONT NECK SINGLE BAND COLLAR:
1. Cast on 94 stitches on size 3 circular needle loosely. Join the circle, taking care not to twist the stitches. Mark the
beginning of the round.
2. knit 0,8 ins (8 rows) in K1P1 ribbing. Check that the collar will stretch to fit over the head.

ROUND YOKE:
Basic instructions for a standard round yoke with an even-row, equal-stitch spacing over four shaping rounds are
given below.
1. With size 4 needles knit round yoke shaping, increasing from top to bottom of yoke as follows.
Rounds 1 to 9: knit even on 94 stitches.
Round 10: Inc 36 stitches evenly across the row to total 130 stitches.
(* [K3, M1] once, then [K2, M1] once * 14 times, then [K3, M1] 8 times.)

Rounds 11 to 19: knit even on 130 stitches.
Round 20: Inc 36 stitches evenly across the row to total 166 stitches.
(* [K4, M1] once, then [K3, M1] once * 14 times, then [K4, M1] 8 times.)

Rounds 21 to 30: knit even on 166 stitches.
Round 31: Inc 36 stitches evenly across the row to total 202 stitches.
(* [K5, M1] once, then [K4, M1] once * 14 times, then [K5, M1] 8 times.)

Rounds 32 to 40: knit even on 202 stitches.
Round 41: Inc 36 stitches evenly across the row to total 238 stitches.
(* [K6, M1] once, then [K5, M1] once * 14 times, then [K6, M1] 8 times.)

Rounds 42 to 52: knit even on 238 stitches.

2. Split the yoke into front, back and sleeve sections as follows. Starting at beg of round, slip stitches for each section to
separate holders: 43 stitches for right sleeve, 76 stitches for front, 43 stitches for left sleeve and the remaining 76 stitches for back
can stay on the needle.

BODY (ARMHOLE TO HEM):
1. With right side of back facing and Stocking Stitch, start where back joins left sleeve. Cast on 8 stitches for underarm,
knit stitches from front holder, cast on 8 stitches for second underarm, and finally knit across back section. Total 168 stitches
for body. Mark the beginning of the round.
2. knit even until piece measures 8,3 ins (66 rounds) from armhole. Dec 6 stitches evenly across the last round to 166 stitches.
3. Hem. Change to size 3 needles. knit 18 rounds in K1P1 ribbing. Cast off remaining stitches loosely.

SLEEVE (ARMHOLE TO HEM):
1. With right side facing and size 4 needles, re-join yarn and knit stitches from right sleeve holder. Cast on 8 stitches for
underarm. Total 51 stitches for sleeve. Join the circle, taking care not to twist the stitches. Mark the sleeve 'seam' midway
on the underarm.
2. Dec 1 st both sides of the marker of every 17th round 4 times to 43 stitches (68 rounds total).
3. knit even until sleeve measures 10,5 ins (84 rounds). Dec 3 stitches evenly across the last row (40 stitches remaining).
4. Hem. Change to size 3 needles. knit 14 rows in K1P1 ribbing. Cast off remaining stitches loosely.
5. knit left sleeve in the same way.

FINISHING:
1. Graft or sew the sleeve and body stitches together at the underarms. Darn/weave/sew in all loose ends.

2. Split the yoke into front, back and sleeve sections as follows. Starting at beg of round, slip stitches for each section to
separate holders: 44 stitches for right sleeve, 80 stitches for front, 44 stitches for left sleeve and the remaining 80 stitches for back
can stay on the needle.

BODY (ARMHOLE TO HEM):
1. With right side of back facing and Stocking Stitch, start where back joins left sleeve. Cast on 10 stitches for underarm,
knit stitches from front holder, cast on 10 stitches for second underarm, and finally knit across back section. Total 180 stitches for body. Mark the beginning of the round.

underarm. Total 54 stitches for sleeve. Join the circle, taking care not to twist the stitches. Mark the sleeve 'seam' midway
on the underarm.
2. Dec 1 st both sides of the marker of every 19th round 3 times, then every 20th round once to 46 stitches (77 rounds
total).
3. knit even until sleeve measures 12,0 ins (96 rounds). Dec 5 stitches evenly across the last row (41 stitches remaining).
4. Hem. Change to size 3 needles. knit 14 rows in K1P1 ribbing. Cast off remaining stitches loosely.
5. knit left sleeve in the same way.

FINISHING:
1. Graft or sew the sleeve and body stitches together at the underarms. Darn/weave/sew in all loose ends.

3. knit even until sleeve measures 14,0 ins (112 rounds). Dec 4 stitches evenly across the last row (45 stitches remaining).
4. Hem. Change to size 3 needles. knit 18 rows in K1P1 ribbing. Cast off remaining stitches loosely.
5. knit left sleeve in the same way.

FINISHING:
