Tips for my basic knitting patterns

1 First you knit your knitting swatch, if you want to knit in a fantasy stitch pattern, knit your swatch in that stitch pattern,
2 then determine your gauge, now you can choose a knitting pattern with the right gauge, this way it will always fit,
3 no need for special yarns or needles size, you decide which yarn you use and which gauge you use, so easy.

Tips for regular inch increments
17.7 = 17.75 = 17 3/4 inches. 18,8 = 18.75 = 18 3/4 inches. 9.9 = 10 inches and so on.
Knowing this will make it easy to just round up or down as they are such small increments.

1. Cast on 130 stitches on size 4 needles and use Stocking Stitch.
2. knit even until piece measures 13,0 ins (104 rows).
3. Mark this row at both ends for armhole. Continue until armhole measures 8,8 ins (70 rows).
4. Shape neck. knit both sides at the same time. knit 48 stitches. Slip the next 34 stitches to a holder.
Now attach another ball of yarn and continue across second half of stitches, and
knit remaining 48 stitches. Dec 1 st at neck edge every row 4 times, until 44 stitches remain.
5. knit even until armhole measures 9,5 ins (76 rows). Cast off 44 shoulder stitches loosely.

FRONT: Cardigan right side knitted first.
1. Cast on 66 stitches on size 4 needles and use Stocking Stitch.
2. knit even until piece measures 13,0 ins (104 rows).
3. Armhole. Mark this row at left end for armhole. AT THE SAME TIME,
4. Shape neck. Dec 1 st at neck edge (right end) of next row, then every 3rd row 11 times, then every 4th row 10
times, until 44 stitches remain.
5. knit even until armhole measures 9,5 ins (76 rows). Cast off 44 shoulder stitches loosely.
6. Left cardigan front. knit as for right side, reversing shapings.

SLEEVES:
1. Cast on 53 stitches on size 4 needles and use Stocking Stitch.
2. Inc 1 st at each end of every 4th row 18 times, then every 5th row 12 times to 113 stitches (132 rows total).
3. knit even until sleeve measures 17,0 ins (136 rows).
4. Cast off loosely.

SHOULDER SEAMS:
1. Sew fronts to back along shoulder seams.

V FRONT NECK SINGLE BAND COLLAR:
--- by hand on size 3 needles.
1. With right side of knit facing, pick up and knit 59 stitches from right front neck edge, 5 stitches from right back neck edge,
34 stitches from back neck holder, 5 stitches from left back neck edge, , 59 stitches from left front neck edge. Total 162 stitches.
2. knit 1,0 ins (10 rows) in K1P1 ribbing.
3. Cast off loosely.

FINISHING:
1. Sew sleeve top to armhole, easing to fit. Sew side and sleeve seams. Sew any remaining seams.
2. Finish open edges of cardigan fronts; some suggestions are: crochet edging, I-cord, zipper.
3. Darn/weave/sew in all loose ends.
