1 First you knit your knitting swatch, if you want to knit in a
cable stitch pattern, knit your swatch with 1 or more cables,
2 then determine your gauge, now you can choose a knitting pattern with the right gauge, this way it will always fit, 3 no need for special yarns or needles size, you decide which yarn you use and which gauge you use, so easy.
The length and quality of the fiber in a knitting yarn determines its texture, luster, strength and hand. |

Cast on 42 stitches on size 5 needles. knit in K1P1 ribbing for 2,5 ins. Inc 5 stitches evenly across the row to 47 stitches total. 2. Change to size 6 needles and Stocking Stitch. 3. Inc 1 st at each end of every 4th row 13 times, then every 5th row 8 times to 89 stitches (92 rows total, excluding hem). 4. knit even until sleeve measures 17,3 ins (96 rows), excluding hem. 5. Cast off loosely. SHOULDER SEAMS: 1. Sew fronts to back along shoulder seams. SINGLE BAND COLLAR: --- by hand on size 5 needles. 1. With right side of knit facing, pick up and knit 7 stitches from right front neck holder, 13 stitches from right front neck edge, 3 stitches from right back neck edge, 27 stitches from back neck holder, 3 stitches from left back neck edge, , 13 stitches from left front neck edge and 7 stitches from left front neck holder. Total 73 stitches. 2. knit 1,3 ins (8 rows) in K1P1 ribbing. 3. Cast off loosely. BUTTON BAND: 1. Start with left front for girls/women, right front for boys/men. Using size 5 needles pick up and knit 34 stitches (approximately 6 stitches for each 7 rows along keyhole edge) between bottom of keyhole and top of collar band. 2. knit in 1x1 ribbing for 8 rows. Cast off loosely. 3. Mark positions for 3 buttons, the first one 0,6 ins above the band bottom, the last one 0,6 ins below the band top. The rest should be evenly spaced between these two, approximately 2,3 ins apart. BUTTONHOLE BAND: 1. knit buttonhole band as for button band, knitting buttonholes at the marked positions. 2. Sew buttons at marked positions on the button band, being careful to align buttons with buttonholes. FINISHING: 1. Sew sleeve top to armhole, easing to fit. Sew side and sleeve seams. Sew any remaining seams. 2. Overlap and sew bottom of button bands to bottom of keyhole. 3. Darn/weave/sew in all loose ends.
