There are 3 types in each pattern.
Cardigans with raglan shoulders, drop shoulders and saddle shoulders.

Tips for my basic knitting patterns

1 First you knit your knitting swatch, if you want to knit in a cable stitch pattern, knit your swatch with 1 or more cables,
2 then determine your gauge, now you can choose a knitting pattern with the right gauge, this way it will always fit,
3 no need for special yarns or needles size, you decide which yarn you use and which gauge you use, so easy.

The length and quality of the fiber in a knitting yarn determines its texture, luster, strength and hand.
Knitting yarn made from long fibers will pill less, be smoother, stronger, more lustrous and more elastic.
Your sweater or cardigan will pill less if you make the stitches tighter, so do not knit too loosely.
Knitting Yarns containing a mixture of fiber lengths are softer, fuzzier and less strong.
Tightly twisted knitting yarns display the texture of a knitted pattern to its best advantage.
Choose a knitting yarn with cotton, 50 % cotton and 50 % acryl or 50 % wool, would be a perfect choice.

Gauge (Stocking Stitch over 4 in = 10 cm): 14,0 stitches by 19,0 rows.
Body knit by hand on 6.5 mm needles
Ribbing knit by hand on 5.5 mm needles

Note: There may be sections where there are two shapings to knit at the same time (necklines or waist shaping).

BACK:
1. Cast on 93 stitches on size 5.5 needles. knit in K1P1 ribbing for 8,0 cms. Inc 4 stitches evenly across the row to 97 stitches total.
2. Change to size 6.5 needles and Stocking Stitch. knit even until piece measures 32,6 cms (62 rows), excl. hem.
3. Armhole shaping. Cast off 5 stitches at beginning of next 2 rows.
4. Raglan shaping. Dec 1 st at armhole end(s) of every 3rd row twice, then dec 1 st at armhole end(s) of every 2nd
row 24 times. Continue until armhole measures 27,4 cms (52 rows), with 39 stitches remaining. Then shape neckline
as follows, continuing raglan shaping AT THE SAME TIME.
5. Shape neck. knit both sides at the same time. knit 6 stitches. Slip the next 27 stitches to a holder. With a second ball
of yarn, knit remaining 6 stitches. Continue armhole shaping. Dec 1 st at neck edge every row twice, until 2 stitches
remain.
6. knit even at neck edge, continuing armhole decreases to last 2 stitches. Cast off.

FRONT: Cardigan right side knitted first.
1. Cast on 45 stitches on size 5.5 needles. knit in K1P1 ribbing for 8,0 cms. Inc 2 stitches evenly across the row to 47 stitches total.
2. Change to size 6.5 needles and Stocking Stitch. knit even until piece measures 32,6 cms (62 rows), excl. hem.
3. Armhole. Dec for armhole at left end, as for back. Continue until armhole measures 17,9 cms (33 rows), with
27 stitches remaining. Then shape neckline as follows, continuing raglan shaping AT THE SAME TIME.
4. Shape neck. Wrong side of knit facing. knit 21 stitches. Slip last 6 stitches to holder. Next row. Continue armhole
shaping. Dec 1 st at neck edge (right end) every row 8 times, until 8 stitches remain.
5. knit even at neck edge, continuing armhole decreases to last 2 stitches. Cast off.
6. Left cardigan front. knit as for right side, reversing shapings.

SLEEVES:
1. Cast on 40 stitches on size 5.5 needles. knit in K1P1 ribbing for 6,0 cms. Inc 4 stitches evenly across the row to 44 stitches total.
2. Change to size 6.5 needles and Stocking Stitch.
3. Inc 1 st at each end of every 7th row 9 times, then every 8th row twice to 66 stitches (79 rows total, excluding hem).
4. knit even until sleeve measures 45,0 cms (86 rows), excluding hem.
5. Shape cap. Cast off 5 stitches at beg of next two rows (56 stitches rem).
Decrease 1 st at each end of every 3rd row twice, then
dec 1 st at each end of every 2nd row 24 times. Cast off remaining 4 stitches loosely.

SHOULDER SEAMS:
1. Sew sleeves to fronts and back, along raglan armhole seams.

ROUND (CREW) FRONT NECK SINGLE BAND COLLAR:
--- by hand on size 5.5 needles.
1. With right side of knit facing, pick up and knit 6 stitches from right front neck holder, 19 stitches from right front neck
edge, 2 stitches from right sleeve, 3 stitches from right back neck edge, 27 stitches from back neck holder, 3 stitches from left back
neck edge, 2 stitches from left sleeve, 19 stitches from left front neck edge and 6 stitches from left front neck holder. Total 87
sts.
2. knit 3,0 cms (8 rows) in K1P1 ribbing.
3. Cast off loosely.

BUTTON BAND:
1. Start with left front for girls/women, right front for boys/men. Using size 5.5 needles pick up and knit 103 stitches
(approximately 9 stitches for each 10 rows along cardigan front) between bottom of hem and top of collar band.
2. knit in 1x1 ribbing for 7 rows. Cast off loosely.
3. Mark positions for 7 buttons, the first one 1,4 cms above the band bottom, the last one 1,4 cms below the band
top. The rest should be evenly spaced between these two, approximately 9,8 cms apart.

BUTTONHOLE BAND:
1. knit buttonhole band as for button band, knitting buttonholes at the marked positions.
2. Sew buttons at marked positions on the button band, being careful to align buttons with buttonholes.

FINISHING: 1. Sew all seams, darn/weave/sew in all loose ends.

AMOUNT OF YARN REQUIRED TO MAKE GARMENT: Amount needed:
620,5 for body and sleeves
88,2 for ribbing and/or hems

4. Shape neck. knit both sides at the same time. knit 35 stitches. Slip the next 27 stitches to a holder. With a second ball
of yarn, knit remaining 35 stitches. Dec 1 st at neck edge every row twice, until 33 stitches remain.
5. knit even until armhole measures 29,5 cms (56 rows). Cast off 33 shoulder stitches loosely.

FRONT: Cardigan right side knitted first.
1. Cast on 45 stitches on size 5.5 needles. knit in K1P1 ribbing for 8,0 cms. Inc 2 stitches evenly across the row to 47 stitches total.
2. Change to size 6.5 needles and Stocking Stitch. knit even until piece measures 32,6 cms (62 rows), excl. hem.

4. Shape neck. Wrong side of knit facing. knit 41 stitches. Slip last 6 stitches to holder. Next row. Dec 1 st at neck edge
(right end) every row 8 times, until 33 stitches remain.
5. knit even until armhole measures 29,5 cms (56 rows). Cast off 33 shoulder stitches loosely.
6. Left cardigan front. knit as for right side, reversing shapings.

SLEEVES:
1. Cast on 40 stitches on size 5.5 needles. knit in K1P1 ribbing for 6,0 cms. Inc 4 stitches evenly across the row to 44 stitches total.
2. Change to size 6.5 needles and Stocking Stitch.
3. Inc 1 st at each end of every 4th row 13 times, then every 5th row 6 times to 82 stitches (82 rows total, excluding hem).
4. knit even until sleeve measures 45,0 cms (86 rows), excluding hem.
5. Cast off loosely.

SHOULDER SEAMS:
1. Sew fronts to back along shoulder seams.

ROUND (CREW) FRONT NECK SINGLE BAND COLLAR:
--- by hand on size 5.5 needles.
1. With right side of knit facing, pick up and knit 6 stitches from right front neck holder, 19 stitches from right front neck
edge, 3 stitches from right back neck edge, 27 stitches from back neck holder, 3 stitches from left back neck edge, , 19 stitches from
left front neck edge and 6 stitches from left front neck holder. Total 83 stitches.
2. knit 3,0 cms (8 rows) in K1P1 ribbing.
3. Cast off loosely.

BUTTON BAND:
1. Start with left front for girls/women, right front for boys/men. Using size 5.5 needles pick up and knit 103 stitches
(approximately 9 stitches for each 10 rows along cardigan front) between bottom of hem and top of collar band.

edge, 5 stitches from right shoulder band, 31 stitches from back neck holder, 5 stitches from left shoulder band, 14 stitches from left
front neck edge and 6 stitches from left front neck holder. Total 81 stitches.
2. knit 3,0 cms (8 rows) in K1P1 ribbing.
3. Cast off loosely.

1. Start with left front for girls/women, right front for boys/men. Using size 5.5 needles pick up and knit 103 stitches
