Crown; measurement over the top of the head, from ear to ear ; 30 cm

Brim depth; 10 cm

Number of decreasing rounds; 5

ABBREVIATIONS: K = knit, K2tog = knit two sts together, M1 = make one (inc one st)

START. Cast on 98 sts. Join to form a circle, taking care not to twist the sts.

BRIM. Work 25 rows in ribbing or pattern stitch of choice.

DECREASE from bottom to top of hat as follows:

Rounds 1 to 24: Work even on 98 sts.

Round 25: Dec 18 sts evenly across the row to total 80 sts.

(* [K4, K2tog] once, then [K3, K2tog] once * 8 times, then [K3, K2tog] twice.)

Rounds 26 to 30: Work even on 80 sts.

Round 31: Dec 14 sts evenly across the row to total 66 sts.

Rounds 32 to 34: Work even on 66 sts.

Round 35: Dec 14 sts evenly across the row to total 52 sts.
