You can change the pattern almost anytime to your own size.

Most of the crochet patterns can easily be changed to another; larger or smaller size,
with a larger hook and thicker yarn, you have one or more sizes up and vice versa.
Adding stitches to both sides and sleeves and adding rows, to create a larger size.
Take measurements while you are crocheting.

Try to shape your crocheted garment, most patterns are tube shaped. This is not very flattering.
Knitted garments have more stretch and drape, than crocheted garments.

Crocheted garments are firmer ( stiffer ) but have less stretch.
Lacy patterns seems to be more softer and have more drape.
Most patterns are designed with a straight, hanging from the bust down, body.
You can improve the look of your crocheted garment, by shaping a fitted waist.

Try to adapt your pattern, with a fitted waist. Or choose a crochet pattern with a fitted waist.
You don't have to be slim to wear garments with a fitted waist, it is for a more rounder figure an improvement too.

If you are unsecure about your changes, put a sweater on and shape your waist with pins, to see what effect
it has on you and where to shape. Try different shaping's. Measure and write it down.

Not all crochet charts are super easy to understand, so beginners are advised to start with a simple one.
For granny squares and flowers, the methods are the same, they all are worked in the round.
Using simple basic crochet stitches, like chains, single and double crochets, all worked at the right side of the fabric.
Most of the motifs begins by chaining a few stitches. Then you join with a slip stitch, forming a loop.
Then you begin working stitches into that loop. At the end of each round, you join the first and last stitch.

Colors that are typically made to crochet flowers are; whites, reds, pinks, yellows, browns and all kinds of green
shades for the leaves. You can begin each round of a granny square or flower, with a new color, although it does
not have to. To change color between rounds, join the new color in the stitch of the next round.
When finished you can weave in the ends at the back of your work.

When you have a pile of flowers or granny squares you have to stitch them together.
Use any comfortable sewing technique like the mattress stitch to connect them.
Just make sure both squares line up stitch by stitch, and sew through two loops at a time, to seam them together.
