KNIT YOUR TENSION SWATCH FIRST, IF YOU USE A STITCH PATTERN, KNIT SWATCH IN THIS PATTERN, THEN CHOOSE YOUR PATTERN WITH THE RIGHT GAUGE
STITCH OR KNITTING GAUGE, AND TENSION: depends on the pattern of stitches in the fabric and the tension of the
individual knitter or crocheter ( or how tightly one knits or crochets, and thick or thin yarns produce different stitches ).
Gauge (Stocking Stitch, or any other knit or fantasy stitch over 4 in = 10 cm): 30,0 stitches by 40,0 rows.
Body knit by hand on 2.5 mm needles
Ribbing knit by hand on 1.5 mm needles

PANTS LEFT LEG:
1. Start at the bottom of the leg. Cast on 65 stitches on size 2.5 needles. knit 4 rows in garter stitch
or ribbing for the hem. Start Stocking Stitch pattern. knit even until piece measures 6,3 ins (64 rows).
2. Crotch Shaping. Cast off 5 stitches at beginning of next 2 rows. Decrease 1 st at each end of next row, and every following alternate row 2 times to 49 stitches.
3. knit short rows for back bottom shaping as follows. knit 24 stitches, turn knit. Purl next row. knit 20 stitches, turn knit. Purl next row. knit 16 stitches, turn knit. Purl
next row. knit 12 stitches, turn knit. Purl next row. knit 8 stitches, turn knit. Purl next row.
4. Optional Hips to Waist shaping. Continue, knitting across all stitches. knit even until piece measures, at back, 8,6 ins (86 rows). Mark centre of row. Leave 1 st unknitted each side of centre, then dec 1 st at both sides of this centre pair on the next row, then every following 9th row twice to 43 stitches.
5. knit even until piece measures,
at back, 11,0 ins (110 rows).
6. Waistband. Instructions following are for ribbing. [Optionally knit lace holes, garter stitch, elastic casing, etc.] Change to size 1.5 needles. If no hip to waist shaping, decrease 6 stitches evenly across the row to 43 stitches. knit in K1P1 ribbing for 6 rows. Cast off loosely in ribbing.
PANTS RIGHT LEG:
1. knit as for left leg, reversing back bottom shaping. SUSPENDERS (Optional):

Make two the same. Cast on 3 stitches on size 1.5 needles. knit even in garter stitch or ribbing for 8,5 ins, or until the length is sufficient, when slightly stretched, to reach from the bottom of the waistband at the front, over the shoulders, and to the back waistband. Cast off.
FINISHING:
1. Sew center crotch seam, then inside leg seams.
2. Sew suspenders inside the waistband, close to the center. You may want to cross
the suspenders, or stitch them together in the center of the back. Accent with buttons, lapel pins, or decorative stitches.
3. Sew in all loose ends.
