Slip this cone inside the crocheted piece. Fold in 0.25 inches at lower edge of the crocheted piece over the cone and glue. Sew sleeve seams. joining the two thicknesses at top. At top of cone. on each side. place one sleeve. Sew hands closed and place hands inside sleeves. With Brown. on each seam. embroider a dot for the nostrils. working tight stitches in order to take-in the strip slightly at this point. With Brown yarn used double. work a chain and wind it around in a flat spiral for the spots; make one round spot and two oval spots. For the tail, cut 3 strands of Brown yarn and 3 strands of Beige yarn 14 inches long; fold them in half and braid them for 2,5 inches, trim ends 4,75 inches from top. Sew to body.

HOW TO MAKE POMPONS Cut 2 cardboard disks 2,75 inches 3 inches {4 inches in diameter (fig. 1). Cut out hole in center of both. the larger the hole, the more yarn you will be able to wind around and the thicker will be your pompon. Place disks together and make a slit to facilitate the winding of the yarn. Cover with yarn, passing the yarn, each time through the slit (fig. 2). When the central hole is almost filled with yarn, thread needle to continue. Slip the tip of the scissors between the disks and cut all the strands at outside edge (fig. 3). To tie the cut strands. draw 2 or 3 strands of yarn between the disks and wind several times very tightly around yarn and knot 2 or 3 times, leaving ends for attaching pompon (fig. 4). Remove the disks; trim the ends; fluff out the pompon by fraying the ends with a pin.
MOON Using Blue yarn chain 16 and work in sc. inc. 2 stitches . at left edge on next 8 rows. and 1 stitch. at same edge on foil. 8 rows; now inc. 1 stitch. at same edge. every other row (12 times). then every 4 rows (twice). At the same time. at right edge, starting on 5th row from beg.. decrease 1 stitch. on every row. (4 times); 1 stitch. every other row (6 times); 1 s1. every 4 rows (4 times) and 1 stitch. every 6 rows (twice). Work 5 rows even which brings you to center of work. Now work second half to match reversing shapings as follows: work 5 rows even. then replace the increasings at left with decreasings and the decs at right with increasings and reading the rows in reverse order. Work a second piece to match. Using crochet moon as pattern. cut-out lining on double fabric. Stitch the two pieces of lining tog. and stuff. Stitch the two crochet sections together placing stuffed shape inside. Using Black yarn embroider a half crescent on one side of moon for mouth. in chain stitch. placing it 6,5 inches up from bottom point of moon and making it 2,25 inches. For the eye. embroider an oval in chain stitch using Black yarn. making it 2 inches high. and 2,25 inches wide. Fill-in the right half with chain stitch worked side by side. then work 5 straight stitches above.

On a smooth wooden stick or a mounting cord placed horizontally in front of you and anchored solidly to the edge of the table; pin the strands of the yam being used. The strands can be of different lengths, and more or less spaced depending on the type of the finished macramé piece. Make rows of knots following the arrangement given for the making of the net. the knots being worked on alternate rows. Whatever the macramé piece you are making, whatever knot (and or sequence of knots) you are working, the basic principle to knot is always the same: knot one or several strands around one or several strands called the knot bearer or the knot bearers. held vertically. For each knot. the successive phases are given in detail on chart. If you follow carefully the design or chart. it will be easy for you to make the knots (half knot and square knot) used for this piece of macramé. These two knots are easy to work and are the most commonly used. Their sequence create varying effects.
