Free circular knitting patterns with round yoke, dimensions in inches and ounces.

Norwegian or Fair Isle knitting, lends itself beautifully to circular knitting, a favorite way of knitting
for many knitters, much lesser mistakes are made !

Circular knitting patterns with dimensions in cms and grams.

Your gauge is different when working in the round than it would be worked flat on
the same needle size. This is because you purl at a different tension than you knit.
This presents problems with doing gauge swatches! Knit stitch by doing this: knit a row;
slide the work to the other end of the cable needle or DPN; leaving a long strand of yarn in back.
Something like this here.

 ABCot only with a round yoke but also circular knitting, round knitting pattern with round
yoke no scissors or STEEKS, only knitted on circular needles, or on 4 double pointed knitting needles.
Very easy to knit and you stay at the front while knitting, use a Norwegian or fair isle knitting pattern.

flat knitting with round yoke Flat knitting patterns

The basic knit fabric (usually called a stocking or stockinette pattern) has a definite right side and wrong side. Because the yarn holding rows together is all on the front, and the yarn holding side-by-side stitches together is all on the back, stockinette stitch has a strong tendency to curl toward the front on the top and bottom, and toward the back on the left and right side.

With knitting in the round the stitches are worked in the round as nothing but knit stitches.
This is a great way to knit Norwegian or Fair Isle patterns.

Working in the round has two main advantages:
no seams
are needed to make up the garment after knitting,
and it allows the knitter to create a smooth and even stocking stitch.
Perfect for sweaters, cardigans and socks, they all can be knitted in the round.

Tips for regular inch increments
17.7 = 17.75 = 17 3/4 inches. 18,8 = 18.75 = 18 3/4 inches. 9.9 = 10 inches and so on.
Knowing this will make it easy to just round up or down as they are such small increments.

Picture of clothes model click and see what your pattern will look like
the numbers; for instance 8 x 12 = your gauge
so you have to knit a tension swatch first      then choose your pattern with the right gauge

knitted top down sweater by merrick Hello Jessica, Attached a pic of my very first sweater.
Done on Knitpicks circular needles according to your bottom-up pattern.
The cables are my addition. Many thanks for your wonderful site. Merrick
I asked if he knitted the sweater him self ?  Men who knit, great. So he answered;
Yes I knitted the jersey myself, as I said, it's the first one I've ever done as I only
started knitting at Christmas. The wool is Rowan Purelife Dark Grey Welsh pure wool
of which I used about 7 or 8 balls.

Top-Down Knitting Top-Down Knitting

Knitted from the top down in one complete piece and then sewn together.
Knitting this way is a logical progression: neckline, yoke, body, hem and finally the sleeves and cuffs.
After the neckline stitches are cast on, there’s only one direction to go, and that’s down to the hem.
Seams are eliminated, which leads to a better fit and more finished appearance.
There’s little to sew together (only the underarm stitches), and there are no unsightly seam lines
at the sides of your garment.

Top-down knitting also allows for easier fitting and shaping. You can try on your sweater at
various stages and make adjustments along the way. Need your sleeves longer? Just go on knitting.
Sleeves too long? Just rip out and bind off.

What is so different about Top-Down knitting?
The biggest difference between top-down and traditional knitting is that the first one is worked
in one piece, and the traditional sweaters are by definition completed piece by piece.
Pullovers made using the top-down method are worked entirely in the round.
For cardigans, the body is worked back and forth.

Your knitting tools will be different, too. To knit a seamless top-down sweater, circular needles
or/and double-pointed needles are needed. Last but not least, traditional knitting is worked in rows,
and top-down knitting is worked in rounds. I have created a lot of top-down knitting patterns for you.

Some knitters love DPN's and some hate them. I personally hate them. ( I am really sorry )
I can't knit with them, they are always pinching me in the face, in the chest, just everywhere.
This is why I don't knit socks by the way. I am always struggling with the Double Pointed Needles.
So I use circulars ( circular needles ) a knitter must choose one or the other.

I knitted all three of the sweaters from your pattern. The orange ones were a bit lighter weight
worsted yarn, so I used size US 5 needles for the ribbing and US 7 for the body;
on the purple sweater I used sizes 6 and 8 needles with worsted. They are all acrylic yarns.

I got the idea for the yokes from a free pattern I had seen for a woman's sweater
on the internet at Classic Elite yarns, (pattern name: Caitlin). I did not follow their pattern exactly,
but used my own scraps and ideas as I went along. They look complicated, but are easy enough
for anyone to do!

Again, thank you for your patience and I hope you enjoy the pictures.
