1 First you knit your knitting swatch, if you want to knit in a fantasy pattern, knit your swatch in this stitch,
2 then determine your gauge, now you can choose a knitting pattern with the right gauge, this way it will always fit, 3 no need for special yarns or needles size, you decide which yarn you use and which gauge you use, so easy. Inc 1 st at each end of every 4th row 3 times, then every 5th row 10 times to 60 stitches (62 rows total, excluding hem). 4. knit even until sleeve measures 27,0 cms (66 rows), excluding hem. 5. Cast off loosely. SHOULDER SEAMS: 1. Sew fronts to back along shoulder seams. SIMPLE HOOD: 1. Use an open (looped) cast on with 108 stitches on size 3.5 needles. 2. Folded front band. knit even for 10 rows, with lace holes for drawstring near the ends of row 2 (or row 7 for lace holes on outside of band). To complete the band, graft the cast-on stitches to the last row knitted. 3. Change to size 4.5 needles and knit 8 rows. Dec 1 st at each end of next row, then every following 2nd row 12 times, until 82 stitches remain. knit even until piece measures 17,1 cms ( 42 rows), excluding front band. Cast off loosely. BUTTON BAND: 1. Start with left front for girls/women, right front for boys/men. Using size 3.5 needles pick up and knit 75 stitches (approximately 9 stitches for each 10 rows along cardigan front) between bottom of hem and bottom of hood. 2. knit in 1x1 ribbing for 6 rows. Cast off loosely. 3. Mark positions for 6 buttons, the first one 1,0 cms above the band bottom, the last one 1,0 cms below the band top. The rest should be evenly spaced between these two, approximately 6,6 cms apart. BUTTONHOLE BAND: 1. knit buttonhole band as for button band, knitting buttonholes at the marked positions. 2. Sew buttons at marked positions on the button band, being careful to align buttons with buttonholes. FINISHING: 1. Sew sleeve top to armhole, easing to fit. Sew side and sleeve seams using invisible seam. Sew back seam(s) of hood. Placing hood bands at center front, sew bottom of hood (including bands) to neckline. Thread a drawstring if required. 2. Darn/weave/sew in all loose ends.
