Tips for my basic knitting patterns

1 First you knit your knitting swatch, if you want to knit in a fantasy pattern, knit your swatch in this stitch,
2 then determine your gauge, now you can choose a knitting pattern with the right gauge, this way it will always fit,
3 no need for special yarns or needles size, you decide which yarn you use and which gauge you use, so easy.

If you want to knit one of my stranded color knitting designs, check my Norwegian color chart pages,
or an intarsia knitting design, check my color chart pages, and select a nice design.
Then check the amount of stitches you need, to knit the design, for instance;
if your knit pattern gives 60 stitches for the front, ( and back ) your color pattern has to be between 40 - 50 stitches wide,
you must start with the color chart at least 5 stitches from each side of the front panel. Take care not to knit with too long floats.

BACK:
1. Cast on 68 stitches on size 3.5 needles. knit in K1P1 ribbing for 4,0 cms.
2. Change to size 4.5 needles and Stocking Stitch. knit even until piece measures 0,7 cms (2 rows), excluding hem.
3. A-line Shaping. Dec 1 st at each end of next row, then every following 12th row twice to 62 stitches. knit even for 4,8
cms (14 rows) to total 14,5 cms, excluding hem.
4. Armhole shaping. Cast off 2 stitches at beginning of next 2 rows. Continue until armhole measures 12,4 cms (36 rows),
with 58 stitches remaining.
5. Shape neck. knit both sides at the same time. knit 17 stitches. Slip the next 24 stitches to a holder.
Now attach another ball of yarn and continue across second half of stitches, and
knit remaining 17 stitches. Dec 1 st at neck edge every row twice, until 15 stitches remain.
6. At the same time, when armhole measures 12,4 cms (row 36), start shoulder shaping.
7. Shoulder shaping. Cast off 7 stitches at armhole edge, then cast off 8 stitches at armhole edge.

FRONT:
1-3 Follow steps 1, 2 and 3 as for back.
4. Armhole. Dec for armhole at both ends, as for back. Continue until armhole measures 8,3 cms (24 rows), with 58 stitches remaining.
5. Shape neck. knit both sides at the same time. knit 22 stitches. Slip the next 14 stitches to a holder.
Now attach another ball of yarn and continue across second half of stitches, and
knit remaining 22 stitches. Dec 1 st at neck edge every row 7 times, until 15 stitches remain.
6. knit even until armhole measures 12,4 cms (36 rows).
7. Shoulder shaping. Cast off as for back.

SLEEVES:
1. Cast on 33 stitches on size 3.5 needles. knit in K1P1 ribbing for 3,0 cms. Inc 4 stitches evenly across the row to 37 stitches
total.
2. Change to size 4.5 needles and Stocking Stitch.
3. Inc 1 st at each end of every 25th row once to 39 stitches (25 rows total, excluding hem).
4. knit even until sleeve measures 17,0 cms (50 rows), excluding hem.
5. Shape cap. Cast off 2 stitches at beg of next two rows. Dec 1 st at each end of every 2nd row 3 times, then dec 1 st at
each end of every 3rd row 6 times, then dec 1 st at each end of every 2nd row twice. Cast off remaining 13 stitches
loosely.

LEFT SHOULDER SEAM:
1. Sew front to back along left shoulder seam.

ROUND (CREW) FRONT NECK SINGLE BAND COLLAR:
--- by hand on size 3.5 needles.
1. With right side of knit facing, pick up and knit 3 stitches from right back neck edge, 24 stitches from back neck holder, 3 stitches from left back neck edge, 14 stitches from left front neck edge, 14 stitches from front neck holder and 14 stitches from right
front neck edge. Total 72 stitches.
2. knit 2,0 cms (8 rows) in K1P1 ribbing.
3. Cast off loosely.

FINISHING: Sew sleeve top to armhole, sew any remaining seams. Darn/weave/sew in all loose ends.

REQUIRED AMOUNT OF YARN: ( APPROX. ):
118,6 for body and sleeves
21,1 for ribbing and/or hems
4,5 for collar/hood

until 59 stitches remaining. Continue until armhole measures 13,1 cms (38 rows), with 59 stitches remaining.
5. Shape neck. knit both sides at the same time. knit 17 stitches. Slip the next 25 stitches to a holder.
Now attach another ball of yarn and continue across second half of stitches, and
knit remaining 17 stitches. Dec 1 st at neck edge every row 3 times, until 14 stitches remain.
6. At the same time, when armhole measures 13,1 cms (row 38), start shoulder shaping.
7. Shoulder shaping. Cast off 7 stitches at armhole edge twice.

FRONT:

total.
2. Change to size 4.5 needles and Stocking Stitch.
3. Inc 1 st at each end of every 19th row twice to 43 stitches (38 rows total, excluding hem).
4. knit even until sleeve measures 19,0 cms (56 rows), excluding hem.
5. Shape cap. Cast off 3 stitches at beg of next two rows. Dec 1 st at each end of every 2nd row 3 times, then dec 1 st at
each end of every 3rd row 6 times, then dec 1 st at each end of every 2nd row 3 times. Cast off remaining 13 stitches
loosely.

LEFT SHOULDER SEAM:
1. Sew front to back along left shoulder seam.

ROUND (CREW) FRONT NECK SINGLE BAND COLLAR:
--- by hand on size 3.5 needles.
1. With right side of knit facing, pick up and knit 3 stitches from right back neck edge, 25 stitches from back neck holder, 3 stitches from left back neck edge, 17 stitches from left front neck edge, 15 stitches from front neck holder and 17 stitches from right
front neck edge. Total 80 stitches.
2. knit 2,0 cms (8 rows) in K1P1 ribbing.
3. Cast off loosely.

FINISHING: Sew sleeve top to armhole, sew any remaining seams. Darn/weave/sew in all loose ends.

SLEEVES:
1. Cast on 37 stitches on size 3.5 needles. knit in K1P1 ribbing for 3,0 cms. Inc 5 stitches evenly across the row to 42 stitches
total.
2. Change to size 4.5 needles and Stocking Stitch.
3. Inc 1 st at each end of every 23rd row once, then every 24th row once to 46 stitches (47 rows total, excluding hem).
4. knit even until sleeve measures 24,0 cms (70 rows), excluding hem.
5. Shape cap. Cast off 4 stitches at beg of next two rows. Dec 1 st at each end of every 2nd row once, then dec 1 st at each
end of every 3rd row 10 times, then dec 1 st at each end of every 2nd row once. Cast off remaining 14 stitches loosely.
