Tips for my basic knitting patterns

1 First you knit your knitting swatch, if you want to knit in a fantasy pattern, knit your swatch in this stitch,
2 then determine your gauge, now you can choose a knitting pattern with the right gauge, this way it will always fit,
3 no need for special yarns or needles size, you decide which yarn you use and which gauge you use, so easy.

If you want to knit one of my stranded color knitting designs, check my Norwegian color chart pages,
or an intarsia knitting design, check my color chart pages, and select a nice design.
Then check the amount of stitches you need, to knit the design, for instance;
if your knit pattern gives 60 stitches for the front, ( and back ) your color pattern has to be between 40 - 50 stitches wide,
you must start with the color chart at least 5 stitches from each side of the front panel. Take care not to knit with too long floats.

BACK:
1. Cast on 43 stitches on size 6 needles. knit in K1P1 ribbing for 5,0 cms. Inc 2 stitches evenly across the row to 45 stitches total.
2. Change to size 7 needles and Stocking Stitch. knit even until piece measures 18,8 cms (30 rows), excluding hem.
3. Armhole shaping. Cast off 2 stitches at beginning of next 2 rows. Dec 1 st at each end of every alternate row for 4 rows
until 37 stitches remaining. Continue until armhole measures 16,3 cms (26 rows), with 37 stitches remaining.
4. Shape neck. knit both sides at the same time. knit 11 stitches. Slip the next 15 stitches to a holder.
Now attach another ball of yarn and continue across second half of stitches, and
knit remaining 11 stitches. Dec 1 st at neck edge every row once, until 10 stitches remain.
5. At the same time, when armhole measures 16,3 cms (row 26), start shoulder shaping.
6. Shoulder shaping. Cast off remaining stitches at armhole edge of next row.

FRONT:
1-2 Follow steps 1 and 2 as for back.
3. Armhole. Dec for armhole at both ends, as for back. Continue until armhole measures 11,3 cms (18 rows), with
37 stitches remaining.
4. Shape neck. knit both sides at the same time. knit 14 stitches. Slip the next 9 stitches to a holder.
Now attach another ball of yarn and continue across second half of stitches, and
knit remaining 14 stitches. Dec 1 st at neck edge every row 4 times, until 10 stitches remain.
5. knit even until armhole measures 16,3 cms (26 rows).
6. Shoulder shaping. Cast off as for back.

SLEEVES:
1. Cast on 22 stitches on size 6 needles. knit in K1P1 ribbing for 4,0 cms. Inc 2 stitches evenly across the row to 24 stitches total.
2. Change to size 7 needles and Stocking Stitch.
3. Inc 1 st at each end of every 11th row 3 times to 30 stitches (33 rows total, excluding hem).
4. knit even until sleeve measures 27,0 cms (44 rows), excluding hem.
5. Shape cap. Cast off 2 stitches at beg of next two rows. Dec 1 st at each end of every 2nd row 4 times, then dec 1 st at
each end of every 3rd row twice, then dec 1 st at each end of every 2nd row 3 times. Cast off remaining 8 stitches
loosely.

LEFT SHOULDER SEAM:
1. Sew front to back along left shoulder seam.

ROUND (CREW) FRONT NECK SINGLE BAND COLLAR:
--- by hand on size 6 needles.
1. With right side of knit facing, pick up and knit 1 stitches from right back neck edge, 15 stitches from back neck holder, 1 stitches from left back neck edge, 9 stitches from left front neck edge, 9 stitches from front neck holder and 9 stitches from right front
neck edge. Total 44 stitches.
2. knit 2,0 cms (4 rows) in K1P1 ribbing.
3. Cast off loosely.

FINISHING: Sew sleeve top to armhole, sew any remaining seams. Darn/weave/sew in all loose ends.

1. Cast on 22 stitches on size 6 needles. knit in K1P1 ribbing for 4,0 cms. Inc 3 stitches evenly across the row to 25 stitches total.
2. Change to size 7 needles and Stocking Stitch.
3. Inc 1 st at each end of every 9th row once, then every 10th row 3 times to 33 stitches (39 rows total, excluding hem).
4. knit even until sleeve measures 30,0 cms (48 rows), excluding hem.
5. Shape cap. Cast off 2 stitches at beg of next two rows. Dec 1 st at each end of every 2nd row 4 times, then dec 1 st at
each end of every 3rd row twice, then dec 1 st at each end of every 2nd row 4 times. Cast off remaining 9 stitches
loosely.

LEFT SHOULDER SEAM:
1. Sew front to back along left shoulder seam.

ROUND (CREW) FRONT NECK SINGLE BAND COLLAR:
--- by hand on size 6 needles.
1. With right side of knit facing, pick up and knit 1 stitches from right back neck edge, 16 stitches from back neck holder, 1 stitches from left back neck edge, 10 stitches from left front neck edge, 10 stitches from front neck holder and 10 stitches from right
front neck edge. Total 48 stitches.
2. knit 2,0 cms (4 rows) in K1P1 ribbing.
3. Cast off loosely.

3. Inc 1 st at each end of every 11th row 3 times, then every 12th row once to 34 stitches (45 rows total, excluding hem).
4. knit even until sleeve measures 34,0 cms (56 rows), excluding hem.
5. Shape cap. Cast off 2 stitches at beg of next two rows. Dec 1 st at each end of every 2nd row 3 times, then dec 1 st at
each end of every 3rd row 4 times, then dec 1 st at each end of every 2nd row 3 times. Cast off remaining 10 stitches
loosely.

3. Inc 1 st at each end of every 9th row once, then every 10th row 4 times to 37 stitches (49 rows total, excluding hem).
4. knit even until sleeve measures 36,0 cms (58 rows), excluding hem.
5. Shape cap. Cast off 2 stitches at beg of next two rows. Dec 1 st at each end of every 2nd row 5 times, then dec 1 st at
each end of every 3rd row twice, then dec 1 st at each end of every 2nd row 4 times. Cast off remaining 11 stitches
loosely.

LEFT SHOULDER SEAM:
1. Sew front to back along left shoulder seam.

ROUND (CREW) FRONT NECK SINGLE BAND COLLAR:
--- by hand on size 6 needles.
1. With right side of knit facing, pick up and knit 1 stitches from right back neck edge, 16 stitches from back neck holder, 1 stitches from left back neck edge, 11 stitches from left front neck edge, 10 stitches from front neck holder and 11 stitches from right
front neck edge. Total 50 stitches.
2. knit 3,0 cms (6 rows) in K1P1 ribbing.
3. Cast off loosely.

FINISHING: Sew sleeve top to armhole, sew any remaining seams. Darn/weave/sew in all loose ends.
