Tips for my basic knitting patterns

1 First you knit your knitting swatch, if you want to knit in a fantasy pattern, knit your swatch in this stitch,
2 then determine your gauge, now you can choose a knitting pattern with the right gauge, this way it will always fit,
3 no need for special yarns or needles size, you decide which yarn you use and which gauge you use, so easy.

If you want to knit one of my stranded color knitting designs, check my Norwegian color chart pages,
or an intarsia knitting design, check my color chart pages, and select a nice design.
Then check the amount of stitches you need, to knit the design, for instance;
if your knit pattern gives 60 stitches for the front, ( and back ) your color pattern has to be between 40 - 50 stitches wide,
you must start with the color chart at least 5 stitches from each side of the front panel. Take care not to knit with too long floats.

1. Cast on 73 stitches on size 2 needles. knit in K1P1 ribbing for 4,0 cms.
2. Change to size 3 needles and Stocking Stitch. knit even until piece measures 14,1 cms (48 rows), excl. hem.
3. Armhole shaping. Cast off 2 stitches at beginning of next 2 rows. Continue until armhole measures 12,4 cms (42
rows), with 69 stitches remaining.
4. Shoulder shaping. Cast off 6 stitches at beginning of next 6 rows. AT THE SAME TIME, when armhole measures
12,9 cms (44 rows), start neck shaping.
5. Shape neck. Slip the center 29 stitches to a holder. Dec 1 st at neck edge every row twice.
FRONT:
1-2 Follow steps 1 and 2 as for back.
3. Armhole. Dec for armhole at both ends, as for back. Continue until armhole measures 8,8 cms (30 rows), with
69 stitches remaining.
4. Shape neck. knit both sides at the same time. knit 26 stitches. Slip the next 17 stitches to a holder.
Now attach another ball of yarn and continue across second half of stitches, and
knit remaining 26 stitches. Dec 1 st at neck edge every row 8 times, until 18 stitches remain.
5. knit even until armhole measures 12,4 cms (42 rows).
6. Shoulder shaping. Cast off as for back.
SLEEVES:
1. Cast on 38 stitches on size 2 needles. knit in K1P1 ribbing for 3,0 cms. Inc 6 stitches evenly across the row to 44 stitches
total.
2. Change to size 3 needles and Stocking Stitch.
3. Inc 1 st at each end of every 9th row once, then every 10th row 4 times to 54 stitches (49 rows total, excluding hem).
4. knit even until sleeve measures 17,0 cms (58 rows), excluding hem.
5. Shape cap. Cast off 2 stitches at beg of next two rows. Dec 1 st at each end of every row once, then dec 1 st at each
end of every 2nd row 15 times, then dec 1 st at each end of every row once. Cast off remaining 16 stitches loosely.

LEFT SHOULDER SEAM:
1. Sew front to back along left shoulder seam.

ROUND (CREW) FRONT NECK SINGLE BAND COLLAR:
--- by hand on size 2 needles.
1. With right side of knit facing, pick up and knit 3 stitches from right back neck edge, 29 stitches from back neck holder, 3 stitches from left back neck edge, 16 stitches from left front neck edge, 17 stitches from front neck holder and 16 stitches from right
front neck edge. Total 84 stitches.
2. knit 2,0 cms (8 rows) in K1P1 ribbing.
3. Cast off loosely.

FINISHING: Sew sleeve top to armhole, sew any remaining seams. Darn/weave/sew in all loose ends.

4. knit even until sleeve measures 19,0 cms (66 rows), excluding hem.
5. Shape cap. Cast off 4 stitches at beg of next two rows. Dec 1 st at each end of every 2nd row 6 times, then dec 1 st at
each end of every 3rd row 4 times, then dec 1 st at each end of every 2nd row 6 times. Cast off remaining 16 stitches
loosely.

4. Shoulder shaping. Cast off 6 stitches at beginning of next 4 rows. Cast off 7 stitches at beginning of following 2 rows. AT
THE SAME TIME, when armhole measures 14,7 cms (50 rows), start neck shaping.

knit remaining 28 stitches. Dec 1 st at neck edge every row 9 times, until 19 stitches remain.
5. knit even until armhole measures 14,1 cms (48 rows).
6. Shoulder shaping. Cast off as for back.
SLEEVES:
1. Cast on 44 stitches on size 2 needles. knit in K1P1 ribbing for 3,0 cms. Inc 5 stitches evenly across the row to 49 stitches
total.
2. Change to size 3 needles and Stocking Stitch.
3. Inc 1 st at each end of every 11th row once, then every 12th row 5 times to 61 stitches (71 rows total, excluding hem).
4. knit even until sleeve measures 24,0 cms (82 rows), excluding hem.
5. Shape cap. Cast off 4 stitches at beg of next two rows. Dec 1 st at each end of every 2nd row 8 times, then dec 1 st at
each end of every 3rd row twice, then dec 1 st at each end of every 2nd row 8 times. Cast off remaining 17 stitches
