Bolero crochet patterns ; type 5 pagina 2

Crochet a gauge swatch, using the crochet hook and yarn you plan to use for the shrug.
Multiply the size of the crocheted square by the amount of squares you will need for the back and then by 2. ( 6 on the imaginary line )
Then measure the widest part of the chest. Adapt the square pattern to the right size or choose another crochet pattern.

Crochet a small border when finished joining the squares along the borders, for decoration..

This project requires beginner crochet skills. You should know how to complete the basic crochet stitches.
Next; crochet 10 squares and sew or crochet them together as given in pattern.
Make sure to try on the jacket before you sew the seams together to make sure it fits you.
Finish all the edges with a nice crocheted border, along the armholes too.
I have seen this kind of bolero in many shapes and forms and is the easiest to complete.
It takes only a few evenings of your time and the result is always fantastic.

bolero type 5 haakschema

N.B.: for this bolero, with 10 squares or flowers, you have to check the chestsize,
I will give you the regular amount of square sizes needed for the appropriate size;
size 32 crocheted squares have to be at least  13 x 13 cms
size 34 crocheted squares have to be at least  14 x 14 cms
size 36 crocheted squares have to be at least  15 x 15 cms
size 38 crocheted squares have to be at least  16 x 16 cms
size 40 crocheted squares have to be at least  17 x 17 cms
size 42 crocheted squares have to be at least  18 x 18 cms
size 44 crocheted squares have to be at least  19 x 19 cms
and so on

Your first square is crocheted and it does not measure the right size, lets say 17 cm, yours is only 15 cms.
* you have to look for another crochet pattern
* you can add one or two rows, to the original pattern
* crochet further in crochet pattern, if this is possible
* or crochet between the squares, a small motif and add this way another 2 cms

A girls bolero, same principle as bolero type 5, but now with a filet crochet pattern.
This pattern needs 4 crocheted motifs or squares, 2 next to each other and 2 in height.
For the front you have to crochet 1 motif at a time and 2 in height.
Just divide after finishing the back, the front in 2 parts.
Crocheting further at the shoulders side will prevent thick shoulder seams.
This filet crochet pattern can be used upside down, it looks the same in both ways.
Again check the chestsize of the girl, you want to crochet the bolero for.
Finish all the edges with a tiny border to give it a girly look.
