When all your crochet motifs are finished, start to sew all these squares together with a simple slip stitch.
Or use a fantasy stitch, to join all the squares together by crocheting the stitch pattern. ( see below for tips )
You can leave the bolero jacket open, or add a button, or ribbon, to create a tie for the front.
You can also experiment by putting some crochet flowers between the squares.
One of my favorites is using different kind of yarns, by texture not by weight.

For this bolero type 4a, you have to crochet squares or flowers.
What size do these squares have to be crocheted ?
Here is some explanation about the calculations;
at the widest point of the bolero, this is just below the armholes, there is 1 square at eacht side of the front,
en 5 at the back. On your imaginary line you need 10 motifs.
There will be 10 squares and if they measure 10 x 10 cms each, then you will have 100 cms for chestsize, at that point.
Suppose your chestsize is 111 cms ( = size 44) then divide 111 by 10 = 11 cms.
Your 10 squares have to be at least 11 x 11 cms.
This is one way, to calculate what size the squares for your size, must be.
Your first square is crocheted and it does not measure the right size, lets say 11 cm, yours is only 9 cms.
* you have to look for another crochet pattern
* you can add one or two rows, to the original pattern
* crochet further in crochet pattern, if this is possible
* or crochet between the squares, a small motif and add this way another 2 cms
I mean something like this
Learn to ; join flowers crochet joining flowers and squares
Here are some measurements for the sizes of the square and the appropriated size.
| flowers or squares | times | cms | for size |
| 8x 8 | 10 | 80 | 32 |
| 9x 9 | 10 | 90 | 36 |
| 10x 10 | 10 | 100 | 40 |
| 11x11 | 10 | 110 | 44 |
| 12x12 | 10 | 120 | 48 |
Finish with
a small border along the edges for decoration.

The different kind of boleros to be crocheted with squares or diamonds,
are here sorted by type.
The principal is for all the boleros the same,
the size of the motif will determine the size of the garment.
One more tip; at the front and back of the patterns, are half squares or triangles.
Stick imaginary the triangles together and there you have squares again.

There are 13 pages with crochet patterns for squares and more for flowers and triangles on this
page.
You will find all the crochet patterns used on the bolero pages.
There has to be one or two crochet patterns you can use, please send me a digital photo of your work.
