BACK:

3. Armhole shaping. Cast off 2 stitches at beginning of next 2 rows. Dec 1 st at each end of every alternate row for 4 rows
until 44 stitches remaining. Continue until armhole measures 9,0 cms (26 rows), with 44 stitches remaining.
4. Shape neck. Work both sides at the same time. Work 13 stitches. Slip the next 18 stitches to a holder.
Now attach another ball of yarn and continue across second half of stitches, and
work remaining 13 stitches. Dec 1 st at neck edge every row twice, until 11 stitches remain.
5. Work even until armhole measures 9,7 cms (28 rows).
6. Shoulder shaping. Cast off remaining stitches at armhole edge of next row.

FRONT: Cardigan right side worked first.
1. Cast on 25 stitches on size 2 needles. Work in K1P1 ribbing for 4,0 cms.
2. Change to size 3 needles and Stocking Stitch. Work even until piece measures 11,0 cms (32 rows), excluding hem.
3. Armhole. Dec for armhole at left end, as for back. Continue until armhole measures 6,2 cms (17 rows), with 21 stitches remaining.
4. Shape neck. Wrong side of work facing. Work 16 stitches. Slip last 5 stitches to holder. Next row. Dec 1 st at neck edge
(right end) every row 5 times, until 11 stitches remain.
5. Work even until armhole measures 9,7 cms (28 rows).
6. Shoulder shaping. Cast off as for back.
7. Left cardigan front. Work as for right side, reversing shapings.

SLEEVES:
1. Cast on 26 stitches on size 2 needles. Work in K1P1 ribbing for 3,0 cms. Inc 2 stitches evenly across the row to 28 stitches total.
2. Change to size 3 needles and Stocking Stitch.
3. Inc 1 st at each end of every 9th row 3 times to 34 stitches (27 rows total, excluding hem).
4. Work even until sleeve measures 12,0 cms (36 rows), excluding hem.
5. Shape cap. Cast off 2 stitches at beg of next two rows. Work 20 rows, while dec 1 st at each end of every 2nd row. Cast
off remaining 10 stitches loosely.

SHOULDER SEAMS:
1. Sew fronts to back along shoulder seams.

ROUND (CREW) FRONT NECK SINGLE BAND COLLAR:
--- by hand on size 2 needles.
1. With right side of work facing, pick up and work 5 stitches from right front neck holder, 10 stitches from right front neck
edge, 3 stitches from right back neck edge, 18 stitches from back neck holder, 3 stitches from left back neck edge, 10 stitches from left
front neck edge, and 5 stitches from left front neck holder. Total 54 stitches.
2. Work 2,0 cms (8 rows) in K1P1 ribbing.
3. Cast off loosely.

BUTTON BAND:
1. Start with left front for girls/women, right front for boys/men. Using size 2 needles pick up and knit 55 stitches
(approximately 4 stitches for each 5 rows along cardigan front) between bottom of hem and top of collar band.
2. Work in 1x1 ribbing for 7 rows. Cast off loosely.
3. Mark positions for 6 buttons, the first one 0,8 cms above the band bottom, the last one 0,8 cms below the band top.
The rest should be evenly spaced between these two, approximately 4,3 cms apart.

BUTTONHOLE BAND:
1. Work buttonhole band as for button band, working buttonholes at the marked positions.
2. Sew buttons at marked positions on the button band, being careful to align buttons with buttonholes.

FINISHING: Sew sleeve top to armhole, sew any remaining seams. Darn/weave/sew in all loose ends.
