I have created knitting patterns with gauges for cable sweaters and cable cardigans.

BACK:

2. Change to size 4 needles and Stocking Stitch. Work even until piece measures 10,4 cms (28 rows), excluding hem.
3. Mark this row at both ends for armhole. Continue until armhole measures 9,6 cms (26 rows),
4. Shape neck. Work both sides at the same time. Work 18 stitches. Slip the next 18 stitches to a holder.
Now attach another ball of yarn and continue across second half of stitches, and
work remaining 18 stitches. Dec 1 st at neck edge every row twice, until 16 stitches remain.
5. Work even until armhole measures 11,1 cms (30 rows). Cast off 16 shoulder stitches loosely.

FRONT: Cardigan right side worked first.
1. Cast on 26 stitches on size 3 needles. Work in K1P1 ribbing for 4,0 cms.
2. Change to size 4 needles and Stocking Stitch. Work even until piece measures 10,4 cms (28 rows), excluding hem.
3. Armhole. Mark this row at left end for armhole. Continue until armhole measures 6,7 cms (17 rows).
4. Shape neck. Wrong side of work facing. Work 21 stitches. Slip last 5 stitches to holder. Next row. Dec 1 st at neck edge
(right end) every row 5 times, until 16 stitches remain.
5. Work even until armhole measures 11,1 cms (30 rows). Cast off 16 shoulder stitches loosely.
6. Left cardigan front. Work as for right side, reversing shapings.

SLEEVES:
1. Cast on 27 stitches on size 3 needles. Work in K1P1 ribbing for 3,0 cms. Inc 2 stitches evenly across the row to 29 stitches total.
2. Change to size 4 needles and Stocking Stitch.
3. Inc 1 st at each end of every 3rd row once, then every 4th row 7 times to 45 stitches (31 rows total, excluding hem).
4. Work even until sleeve measures 12,0 cms (34 rows), excluding hem.
5. Cast off loosely.

SHOULDER SEAMS:
1. Sew fronts to back along shoulder seams.

ROUND (CREW) FRONT NECK SINGLE BAND COLLAR:
--- by hand on size 3 needles.
1. With right side of work facing, pick up and work 5 stitches from right front neck holder, 10 stitches from right front neck
edge, 3 stitches from right back neck edge, 18 stitches from back neck holder, 3 stitches from left back neck edge, 10 stitches from left
front neck edge, and 5 stitches from left front neck holder. Total 54 stitches.
2. Work 2,0 cms (8 rows) in K1P1 ribbing.
3. Cast off loosely.

BUTTON BAND:
1. Start with left front for girls/women, right front for boys/men. Using size 3 needles pick up and knit 58 stitches
(approximately 1 stitches for each 1 rows along cardigan front) between bottom of hem and top of collar band.
2. Work in 1x1 ribbing for 7 rows. Cast off loosely.
3. Mark positions for 6 buttons, the first one 0,8 cms above the band bottom, the last one 0,8 cms below the band top.
The rest should be evenly spaced between these two, approximately 4,3 cms apart.

BUTTONHOLE BAND:
1. Work buttonhole band as for button band, working buttonholes at the marked positions.
2. Sew buttons at marked positions on the button band, being careful to align buttons with buttonholes.

FINISHING: Sew sleeve top to armhole, sew any remaining seams. Darn/weave/sew in all loose ends.
