BACK:

4. Shape neck. Work both sides at the same time. Work 16 stitches.
Now attach another ball of yarn, cast off the next 15 stitches.

FRONT: Cardigan right side worked first.
1. Cast on 23 stitches on size 3.5 needles. Work in K1P1 ribbing for 4,0 cms.

3. Armhole. Mark this row at left end for armhole. Continue until armhole measures 6,7 cms (15 rows).
4. Shape neck. Wrong side of work facing. Work 18 stitches. Cast off next 5 stitches. Next row. Dec 1 st at neck edge (right

SLEEVES:

3. Inc 1 st at each end of every 3rd row once, then every 4th row 6 times to 39 stitches (27 rows total, excluding hem).

SHOULDER SEAMS:
1. Sew fronts to back along shoulder seams.

SIMPLE HOOD:
1. Use an open (looped) cast on with 76 stitches on size 3.5 needles.
2. Folded front band. Work even for 10 rows, with lace holes for drawstring near the ends of row 2 (or row 7 for lace
holes on outside of band). To complete the band, graft the cast-on stitches to the last row worked.
3. Change to size 4.5 needles and work 4 rows. Dec 1 st at each end of next row, then every following 2nd row 8
times, until 58 stitches remain. Work even until piece measures 11,2 cms ( 26 rows), excluding front band. Cast off
loosely.

BUTTON BAND:
1. Start with left front for girls/women, right front for boys/men. Using size 3.5 needles pick up and knit 46 stitches
(approximately 9 stitches for each 10 rows along cardigan front) between bottom of hem and bottom of hood.
2. Work in 1x1 ribbing for 6 rows. Cast off loosely.
3. Mark positions for 6 buttons, the first one 0,8 cms above the band bottom, the last one 0,8 cms below the band top.
The rest should be evenly spaced between these two, approximately 4,0 cms apart.

BUTTONHOLE BAND:
1. Work buttonhole band as for button band, working buttonholes at the marked positions.
2. Sew buttons at marked positions on the button band, being careful to align buttons with buttonholes.

FINISHING:
1. Sew sleeve top to armhole, easing to fit. Sew side and sleeve seams using invisible seam. Sew back seam(s) of
hood. Placing hood bands at center front, sew bottom of hood (including bands) to neckline. Thread a drawstring
